Sugarcrane was started by founders EK and Albert, both of whom respectively worked at Google and Microsoft. (Not everybody who works at these places are programmers!)

EK is the creative director/designer behind all of the products; her work always begins with a strong concept and/or idea that forms the soul of each piece. Albert comes from a design as well as brand/marketing background, and helps run the business and planning side of Sugarcrane.

"We wanted to launch Sugarcrane for a couple of reasons:

First, to bring our design ideas to life; we're design and fashion geeks at heart, so making something tangible for others to enjoy is very much a part of who we are - this is another creative outlet,

Second, we wanted to make things that were unique and felt personal; we were tired of the mass-consumer, cheaply-made yet expensive products we saw everywhere - our stuff is thus strictly limited-edition, and made to exacting standards,

At the end of the day, our products are ultimately for people like us, who have a strong opinion and appreciation of design, fashion, and attention to detail in both.

We hope our customers enjoy wearing our products as much as we do in creating them."

A word from EK on the current work

"The creative concept behind our first line of Sugarcrane products is that I wanted to draw upon classic, even historical references from different cultures, and put them into a contemporary form factor. By doing so, the idea was to combine the two to create something that had meaning, communicated an idea, and was just as much a design piece as it was a fashion expression.
